"The ichthyological main work of the [18th] century, which, even if the foreign types have not been made after the most accurate models, illustrates domestic fish in an excellent manner" (ADB II, 707f.). - "This monumental work with illustrations marks .. an important part of ichthyological iconography." (Nissen, Fischb. p. 24) - At hand is the complete 'Oeconomische Naturgeschichte der Fische' as well as the first 3 parts of the continuation 'Naturgeschichte der ausländischen Fische' in 9 parts. - With isolated thumbing, 3 plates stronger, coppers in first plate vol. trimmed to plate in right margin because of the size, title ll. and 2 plates with 1-2 small library stamps. Bindings somewhat rubbed, spine ends mostly restored. Very nice and clean copy with splendid and accurately colored illustrations of fish. - With ex-libris of library 'Gräflich von Redern'.
