Number

The number, more specifically, the lot number, refers at a particular auction to a specific object or group of objects. The object or lot is listed in the auction catalogue under this number and at the auction the lot or object is called according to the numerical sequence of the lot numbers. (Attention: not to be confused with the number assigned to an auction, that is, the auction number itself.)
