Singer 171-180. - First part of the splendid sereis of etchings that is based on the thought "daß der Tod unerwartet jeden Augenblick an den Menschen herantreten kann" [transl.:"that man can face death unexpectedly at any moment"] (Singer). - Comprises the etchings Nacht, Seeleute, Meer, Chaussee, Kind, Herodes, Landmann, Auf den Schienen, Arme Familie and Der Tod als Heiland. - Printed on English yellowish copper plate printing paper. - With isolated small crease marks in the outer margin (somewhat stronger on title leaf and with small corner blemish). Portfolio rubbed. Inside very clean copy.
