Orient. - Gedichtmanuskript. Arabian manuscript on paper.18th century. 57 ll. (of 58). Size of sheet 32 : 22 cm. 20 lines. Black and red ink. - Contemp. calf binding with blindstamp title vignette and flap.
Unusual manuscript with a poem in Nashki. The artistically written poem consists of a chain of four-line stanzas, each with the same end rhyme. With initials of each verse all the way through the Arabian alphabet. Dealing with love in general and particularly the love for Alllah and for Muhammad the prophet. - Lacking 2 pages at the beginning (letter Alef), presumably also a title or opening page. - Slightly stained, margins browned, partly with marginal defects. Binding defective, joints of flap torn, spine enforced with a strip of leather in former times.
